I have a Reverse Osmosis Kit that I’m trying to plumb into the house. The main objective is to use the R/O water as a supply to my salt water aquarium. The secondary objective would be to pipe a secondary line to the kitchen sink. I already have a water filter on my refrigerator so the kitchen sink is not important. Considerations: 1.)Whether or not to use a saddle valve on a cold water supply line or to use another method based off of the latest building codes. 2.)Providing sufficient thermal coating or pipe sleeves to protect R/O plastic water source hoses from freezing in the crawl space under the house. 3.)Installing a stop valve above deck in the living room close to the R/O unit for maintenance periods.

The disposal in the house (7 years old) will turn on with the switch but the to portion is not moving and chewing anything up. I am in need of someone to look at it and estimate a repair.

While most plumbing installation jobs are best left to professionals, there are a few simple tasks that you can undertake, provided you have high DIY skills, like installing a toilet. Make sure that you use pipes that are the right size, and take care to align the tubing into valves and fittings properly. First, use a putty knife to remove the old wax gasket. Set the floor flange in such a way that its underside is on level with the finished floor. Tighten the screws that connect the flange to the floor, and set in plumber's putty. Insert them through the flange, aligning them properly with the center of the drain pipe. Place the new wax gasket on the toilet horn located at the bottom of the toilet bowl, and use plumber's putty to seal. Now, lower the bowl into place using the bolts to guide the exact position over the flange. Press firmly, and give a little twist, so you feel the bowl being pressed into the wax ring. Level the bowl, and make sure it is aligned with the valve. Tighten washers and nuts by hand. Fit the rubber gasket on the opening of the flush valve at the bottom of the tank. Place the tank over the bowl, and tighten the washers and nuts. Seal the base with plumber's putty.
Installing a faucet is one of the most simple plumbing installation jobs. You need simple tools like locking pliers, a slip joint, an adjustable wrench and some plumber's putty. Bottom mounted faucets are easy to remove and replace, but top mounted faucets are screwed in place by nuts that are positioned under the sink. Once you manage to remove the old faucet, place the new faucet in place (in case of a bottom mounted faucet), and then place the washers and nuts. Finally, tighten with a wrench, and use plumber's putty to seal the base of the faucet.
